The Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking a full-time or part-time BE/BC Fellowship-Trained Neuro Radiologist and Fellowship-Trained Body/Cardiothoracic Radiologist. VA Richmond is one of the largest and major 1A facilities in the country with cutting-edge equipment for clinical and research purposes. VA Richmond is one of leading centers in Traumatic Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, Liver Transplant, Prostate Cancer, Radiation Oncology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Cardiology (EP, heart failure and advanced Interventional cardiology) and gastrointestinal diseases. VA Richmond is the only heart transplant center within the VA system in the country. Radiology & Nuclear Medicine Service (R&NM) is in multidisciplinary collaboration with other Departments. R&NM is part of one of major radiology residency programs from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) with 36 residents in the program. R&NM has some research collaborations with other large academic institutions and is part of multiple industry-sponsored research.
VA Richmond provides a full-integrated electronic medical records system and fully digital Radiology Department. The Department performs approximately 120,000 examinations per year. The Department supports 7 Radiology residents from VCU at one-time. We have Mckesson PACS, Powerscibe, Vitrea, Tera-Recon and Dynacad (lung and prostate) software. The Department performs all advanced imaging like Functional MRI, ASL perfusion, Neuro Quant, Cardiac CT/MRI, Virtual colonoscopy, CTE, CTU, MR and US elastography, Contrast enhanced US, MR PDFF, MPMRI and Dual energy CT applications.
Every radiologist spends 40-80% of their time in their area of expertise and rest in general area which includes Plain film, Fluoro, CT, Ultrasound and some minor procedures. Responsibilities also include teaching residents and performing some clinical research/PQI. Academic, administrative and research activities will be supported with protected time. Starting salaries are around $300K- $350K; final decision is made by the compensation panel depending on qualifications and experience. Maximum salary cap for Radiologists is $400K plus extensive federal benefits to include pension and TSP (like 401K). Comfortable leave package including all federal holidays. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
