Abrazo West Campus (located at 136th Avenue and McDowell Road in Goodyear) is a 188-bed acute care hospital serving the healthcare needs of the residents of the southwest Valley since September 2003. The Trauma Injury Prevention and Performance Improvement Coordinator works directly with the Trauma Program Manager to manage, maintain,
and coordinate the performance improvement and injury prevention activities at West Valley Hospital. The Trauma Injury Prevention and
Performance Improvement Coordinator is responsible for day to day activities related to the performance improvement and patient safety plan. The
Trauma Injury Prevention and Performance Improvement Coordinator works collaboratively with the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma
Medical Director to coordinate, implement, and maintain injury prevention programs based on West Valley Hospitalï¿½s statistical data and the needs
of the community it serves. The Trauma Injury Prevention and Performance Improvement Coordinator participates in state and regional injury
prevention activities and statewide performance improvement activities.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Must be able to work under deadlines. Must be self-motivated to complete work in a timely manner to meet deadlines. Ability to
think proactively, act creatively, critical-thinking, excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to effectively speak and present information before
groups of customers, employees and committees. Demonstrated ability for problem solving, decision making and establishing effective rapport with
personnel, patients, families, physicians, and colleagues. Develops and maintains community partnerships to meet the educational needs of groups
at risk for injury. Should have working knowledge of Trauma One database and report writing, ICD-9, ISS and AIS coding systems. Must be familiar
with American College of Surgeons Level II criteria for the PIPS program and Injury/Community Outreach activities. Demonstrated ability to work as
part of multiple teams.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: BSN. Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: MSN
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Two years relevant clinical nursing experience.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Two years experience in community education and minimum 1 year experience in performance improvement
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Arizona.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION: ACLS, PALS, TNCC or ATCN.
