Medication Scribe Emergency Department

M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center is comprised of two hospitals and dozens of adult specialty clinics on both the East and West banks of the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis.

Complete services range from primary care, emergency care and the delivery of thousands of babies each year, to care of patients with the most complex conditions. Areas of specialization include solid organ and blood and marrow transplantation, heart disease and cancer.

Our emergency team partners with the full spectrum of medical specialties and ancillary services including anesthesiology, intensive care, cardiology, neurosurgery, orthopaedic surgery, radiology, rehabilitation and surgery.

Emergency Services:

• Provides care to 30,000 patients annually, average 80 daily.
• Cath lab, stroke center, trauma center
• Multidisciplinary approach to all emergencies.
• Care delivery team: Board Certified/Eligible ED physicians, RNs, ER Techs, ED Specialists, Medication Scribe.

This position will be working 80 hours every two weeks on evening shift (3pm-11:30pm), 8 hour shifts and every third weekend. The position is eligible for benefits.

The Medication Scribe is responsible for gathering and documenting patient medication information into the electronic health records system, as well as assisting with related administrative tasks to increase efficiency and productivity of care team and satisfaction of patients.

• Prepare current patient-specific medication list in accordance with department processes and procedures. This includes gathering patient medication and allergy information utilizing patients, their families, pharmacies and other care facility records to provide an accurate home and prescribed medication and allergy list.
• Clarify obvious drug problems in the medication regimen.
• Effectively triage patients to provide an accurate medication list available for physician review, using all communication options available including e-mail, fax and direct patient or provider contact.
• Enter medications and allergies into patients profiles as appropriate.
• Performs other administrative responsibilities as assigned.

Required:Two years of pharmacy, LPN or medication administration experience.
