Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385 bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and level 2 trauma facility with an innovative , patient centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department. Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation,joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.
Under the direction of the Health Information Manager (HIM) the Supervisor, Medical Records is responsible for day to day operations related to managing the medical records function; including but not limited to: scheduling, collection and distribution of charts filing and file maintenance. Additionally, the Supervisor of Medical Records is responsible for training, performance evaluation and the other H.R. functions typically associated with staff supervision.
These services further the vision of Desert Regional Medical Center to create unique environments, where patients, their families, doctors and staff come together to achieve longer and better lives in the fight against cancer.
Department Specific Duties:
â�¢ Supervising the activities of staff responsible, for medical records filing, chart circulation; retrieval, pickup, distribution, chart pulls
â�¢ Coordinate the scheduling and work flow of uncoded charts to coders as well as printing imaging reports for coders.
â�¢ Follow-up on coder-generated physician queries.
â�¢ Monitor Dictaphone review queue and ensure daily clearance of open dictations.
â�¢ Conduct performance reviews, and be responsible for other H.R. functions, including but not limited to discipline, and hiring.
â�¢ Responsible for training and transition of new employees. Identify training needs and coordinate the development of training interventions.
â�¢ Monitor Output Management reports on unbilled accounts.
â�¢ Gather data, develop and distribute management reports that reflect performance indicators for medical records operations.
â�¢ May perform other duties as assigned.
â�¢ Complies with regulatory requirements (i.e. TJC) Appropriate for the position.
â�¢ At least two yearsâ�� medical records supervisory experience.
â�¢ Knowledge of coding workflow processes
â�¢ Experience with billing and revenue cycle systems.
â�¢ Proficiency in MS Office applications.
â�¢ Superb organizational and communication skills
â�¢ Ability to work under pressure in busy office environment.
