The Program Director leads the program faculty, staff, and students, and develops goals and objectives for the program's continued excellence in Physician Assistant graduate education and assures continued accreditation of the program. This leader will embody the values and missions of the School of Medicine and Emory University, including a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion to create an optimal climate for eminence in clinical care, research, and teaching. The Program Director is responsible for the overall organization, administration, continuous review and analysis, financial management, planning and development of the Physician Assistant Program. The Emory Physician Assistant Program recruits, educates and mentors a diverse group of students to become highly regarded physician assistants providing compassionate health care of the highest quality. The Program Director must be knowledgeable about and responsible for the accreditation process, and must provide effective leadership and management. The Program Director will have primary responsibility for the program's administration, and must supervise the medical director, faculty and staff activities that directly relate to the Physician Assistant Program.

Qualifications: The Director of Emory's Physician Assistant Program is an accomplished operational leader who implements strategic plans for education and clinical care with a deep understanding of large complex academic health sciences center organizations. The Director provides clinical and administrative expertise to lead and manage the program. This position requires creative thinking to solve problems while serving as an example of moral character and commitment to advance the best interests of Emory. Based on the Accreditation Commission on the Education of Physician Assistants written standards, the Director of Emory's Physician Assistant Program must be full-time, hold current NCCPA certification, or current Physician Assistant licensure in the state of Georgia. Additionally, candidates will have a minimum of five (5) years of clinical/educational leadership experience; direct administrative experience, both operational and fiscal to include prior P&L responsibilities; and a broad understanding of complex employee health strategies and the issues challenging the field of physician assistant programs in the current environment.

The Emory University School of Medicine's Physician Assistant Program, ranked fifth nationally, is a dynamic program emphasizing active learning centered on the six competencies as defined by the profession. The twenty-nine-month program uses a fully integrated curriculum, stresses excellence in medical decision-making, and the provision of health care to all individuals while sensitive to the social determinants of health and wellness. Using learning societies and early patient contact, the program reinforces team-based care, patient advocacy, and the acquisition of clinical skills supported by faculty mentors at all stages of the curriculum and throughout the Emory Healthcare clinical delivery system including its close affiliates of Grady Health System, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, and the VA Medical Center.
