The Integrative Health Service at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System (SFVAHCS) and the Department of Medicine, University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) are pleased to announce a new full-time Integrative Medicine faculty position based at the San Francisco VA Medical Center. The Integrative Medicine (IM) physician plays a key role in the SFVAHCS Integrative Health service, reflecting VA’s commitment to Whole Health care for veterans and enhancing the nationally renowned SFVAHCS/UCSF partnership in patient care, research, and education.
The IM physician will join a vibrant and growing Integrative Health service and VA Whole Health program with ample opportunities for collaborations with colleagues throughout UCSF, SFVAHCS, and nationwide. The SFVAHCS Integrative Health service is highly interdisciplinary and includes clinicians in acupuncture, chiropractic care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, psychology, nutrition, nursing, social work, and Whole Health and Peer coaching. These clinicians collaborate to provide multi-modal care to veterans to prevent chronic conditions and to provide all Veterans with an evidence-based complementary and integrative health (CIH) approach to care.
The Integrative Medicine Physician must be board-certified in Internal Medicine, Family Practice or equivalent; must have completed fellowship training in Integrative Medicine or equivalent (e.g., Lifestyle Medicine); and must have experience in the practice of complementary and integrative health or equivalent. Experience working with an underserved population, Veterans, or within the VA healthcare system is a plus.
